German stocks experienced a significant decline on Monday, influenced by escalating unrest in France, political tensions in Eastern Europe, ongoing concerns regarding the Middle East conflict, and apprehensions about high oil prices, which collectively contributed to a bearish sentiment in the market.

“Nothing justifies it, nothing explains it, nothing excuses it. Tonight, we all fell anger and shame,” French President Emmanuel Macron said on Sunday, a day after France suffered one of its worst days of unrest in years. Meanwhile, Ukrainian assaults ignited an oil export terminal in St Petersburg on Sunday, as Kyiv deployed over 1,000 drones against Russia in one of the conflict’s most significant aerial offensives.

The benchmark DAX was down 322.30 points or 1.27% at 25,300.31 nearly half an hour past noon.

  • Continental experienced a decline of approximately 3.4%.
  • Rheinmetall experienced a decline of nearly 3%, while Bayer, Deutsche Post, MTU Aero Engines, Siemens, Commerzbank, Deutsche Bank, Vonovia, and Siemens Energy saw losses ranging from 1.6% to 2%.
  • Zalando experienced an increase of 1.1%.
  • Infineon Technologies, Qiagen, Symrise, and Deutsche Boerse recorded slight increases.
