TODAY’S FACTORS AND EVENTS
Germany’s benchmark 10-year Bund yield dropped to 2.1%, amid expectations of further monetary tightening from the European Central Bank and fading hopes of a less aggressive approach from the US Federal Reserve. ECB policymaker Pablo Hernandez de Cos said the central bank might announce a start date for its quantitative tightening at its December meeting, while board member Fabio Panetta said on Monday the ECB must keep raising rates but needed to avoid overtightening as that could push output permanently below trend. Elsewhere, US Federal Reserve Governor Christopher Waller said on Sunday the central bank was not softening its fight against inflation, despite last week’s weaker-than-expected CPI data.
