German stocks experienced a slight uptick in positive territory on Tuesday morning, although the overall sentiment remained cautious due to elevated oil prices and rising bond yields. Oil prices have risen as a result of the stalemate in U.S.-Iran negotiations, with reports indicating that Iranian officials harbour little optimism regarding the likelihood of an agreement being reached before the U.S. midterm elections in November.
Brent crude front-month futures, having reached $107.87 a barrel earlier, subsequently fell to $105.50, reflecting only a slight increase from the previous close. The benchmark DAX was up 63.31 points or about 0.25% at 25,470.42 approximately half an hour before noon.
- Infineon Technologies increased by 3.2%, while Siemens Energy rose approximately 2.75%, supported by a report indicating that Anthropic is wagering on AI to reshape the global economy and intends to engage public investors for its expansion.
- Siemens experienced an increase of 2.1%, whereas Siemens Healthineers, Scout24, Deutsche Bank, MTU Aero Engines, Gea Group, Merck, Commerzbank, and SAP saw gains ranging from 0.7% to 1.1%.
- Bayer, Rheinmetall, and E.ON experienced declines of 1.7%, 1.5%, and 1.4%, respectively. Beiersdorf and Zalando both experienced a decline of approximately 1.1%. Munich RE saw a decrease of nearly 1%.
- Fresenius Medical Care experienced a decline of approximately 1% after Berenberg significantly reduced the stock’s price target and retracted its buy recommendation.
- Henkel, Mercedes-Benz, Hannover RE, Daimler Truck Holding, Adidas, and Deutsche Telekom also experienced a decline.
