The DAX 40 edged lower to approximately 26,200 on Wednesday, reversing modest gains from the previous day, as investors adopted a more cautious stance ahead of Nvidia’s earnings report and the commencement of the central bankers’ meeting in Jackson Hole on Thursday. Meanwhile, renewed optimism regarding the potential reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, following discussions between Iran and Oman, alleviated inflation worries, resulting in a decline in oil prices and bond yields.

Among stocks, software giant SAP declined by more than 3%, positioning it as the poorest performer, following UBS’s downgrade of the stock to Neutral from Buy, attributing this decision to sluggish advancements in agency AI and a decline in cloud backlog growth.

Other notable decliners comprised Scout24, Siemens Healthineers, Siemens Energy, Rheinmetall, Volkswagen, and Daimler Truck, with declines ranging from 0.8% to 1.4%. On the upside, Qiagen NV shares experienced a 2% increase following reports that the company is engaged in discussions with EQT and KKR regarding a potential sale at €50 per share.
