The DAX 40 increased by 0.4% to exceed 26,200 on Tuesday, recovering from a lacklustre session the previous day, as market participants expressed relief following the latest US sanctions on Iran, which turned out to be less severe than anticipated. US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent announced Monday a global sanctions program aimed at countries that sustain economic and trade relations with Iran, although the measures were perceived as unlikely to substantially impact oil supplies.
In the interim, semiconductor equities endeavoured to find stability after a lacklustre showing on Monday, as investors adjusted their positions in anticipation of Nvidia’s earnings announcement. Infineon Technologies spearheaded the upward movement, increasing by over 2%, in conjunction with stocks associated with artificial intelligence.
Siemens Energy advanced 1.4%, also supported by reports that the company had engaged Goldman Sachs to prepare for a potential sale of its majority stake in its steam turbine business. Among the leading decliners were Siemens Healthineers, which fell by 1.1%, SAP, also down by 1.1%, and Volkswagen, decreasing by 0.7%.
