TODAY’S FACTORS AND EVENTS
Germany’s industrial production fell by 1.3 percent from a month earlier in June 2021, a third consecutive month of contraction and compared with market expectations of a 0.5 percent growth. The latest reading added to signs that recovery is slowing in Europe’s biggest economy, as supply bottlenecks for intermediate goods continued to weigh on production. Output was down for intermediate (-0.9 percent) and capital goods (-2.9 percent), as well as construction (-2.6 percent) and energy (-0.6 percent). Meanwhile, production of consumer goods increased by 3.4 percent.
