The German current account balance of payments showed a surplus of EUR 18.8 billion in February of 2021, smaller than EUR 21.6 billion in the same month a year earlier. The goods surplus fell to EUR 18.6 billion from EUR 20.2 billion in February of 2020 while the services account shifted to a surplus of EUR 1.2 billion compared to a deficit of EUR 1.3 billion. At the same time, the primary income surplus widened to EUR 7.7 billion from EUR 7 billion while the secondary income deficit rose to EUR 8.8 billion from EUR 4.3 billion. In the first two months of the year, the country posted a current account surplus of EUR 36.4 billion, smaller than EUR 37.5 billion a year ago.
