It was a particularly bearish day for the auto sector.DaimlerandVolkswagenled the way down, sliding by 2.69% and by 2.63% respectively.BMWandContinentalsaw more modest losses of 2.31% and 1.52% respectively.

It was also a bullish day for the banks, however. Commerzbank gained 1.86%, while Deutsche Bank rose by 0.46%.
