German stocks exhibited a varied performance on Monday as investors remained attentive to geopolitical developments while also processing regional economic data. Elevated bond yields, coupled with increasing political instability in Europe, have negatively impacted sentiment, leading investors to adopt a more cautious approach. The benchmark DAX, which fell to 25,143.54 after reaching 25,343.50 earlier in the day, was down 32.41 points or 0.13% at 25,198.79 recently.

  • Continental experienced an increase of 1.6%. Mercedes-Benz, Deutsche Telekom, SAP, Fresenius Medical Care, Fresenius, and BMW experienced increases ranging from 0.8% to 1.1%.
  • Daimler Truck Holding, Volkswagen, Deutsche Boerse, Rheinmetall, Allianz, Munich RE, Deutsche Bank, and Brenntag experienced upward movement.
  • Hochtief, Qiagen, and Siemens Healthineers experienced declines exceeding 1.5%. Siemens, Infineon Technologies, Merck, Siemens Energy, RWE, and Adidas experienced declines ranging from 0.9% to 1.25%.
  • Deutsche Post, Adidas, GEA Group, Bayer, and MTI Aero Engines exhibited signs of weakness.

Data indicated that the S&P Global Germany Composite PMI increased to 53.8 in September, up from 51.8 in August, aligning with preliminary estimates and signalling the most robust expansion observed in nearly a year. Growth was widespread, primarily propelled by the manufacturing sector, which in turn stimulated rises in new business and export sales. Meanwhile, the services sector has shown signs of recovery, as evidenced by the Business Activity Index increasing to 52.9 from 49.7 in August. This marks its highest level since just prior to the onset of the Middle East conflict in February.

Data released by Eurostat indicated that producer price inflation in the Eurozone accelerated in August, with prices rising 8.2% year-on-year, compared to a 5.8% increase in July. Forecasts indicated an annual growth rate of 8.1%. On a monthly basis, producer prices increased by 1.9%, aligning with expectations and surpassing the 1.6% rise recorded in July. Producer prices in the EU increased by 1.9% on a monthly basis and rose by 8% compared to the previous year.
