The DAX Futures is trading at 13,261.0 up with ++0.43% percent +56.5 point.The FTSE 100 Futures is trading at 7,493.20 with +0.34% percent or +25.40 point. The CAC 40 Futures is trading at 6,375.50 with +0.31% percent or +19.50 point. The EURO Stoxx 50 Futures trading at 3,676.00 up with +0.46% percent or +17.00 point.
TODAY’S FACTORS AND EVENTS
The yield on the German 10-year Bund rose toward 1.4%, the highest in eight weeks on expectations of higher interest rates despite recessionary risks as inflation expectations remain anchored to the upside. The latest CPI report confirmed inflation in the 19-bloc accelerated to a new record-high of 8.9% in July and soaring natural gas prices are likely to add additional pressure. In addition, ECB board member Isabel Schnabel stated recently that the central bank’s inflation outlook has not improved since the July 50bps rate hike. Natural gas prices in Europe returned to record levels boosted by the announcement of further supply cuts from Russia at a time when heatwaves across the continent are set to push demand to above-normal levels. Looking at the growth outlook, flash PMI data showed business activity in the Euro Area contracted for a second consecutive month in August, with Germany recording the sharpest decline in output since June 2020.
