The DAX 40 edged higher to approximately 16,420 on Wednesday, achieving a new peak and extending its winning streak to five consecutive sessions. Traders observed additional corporate earnings while keeping a close watch on geopolitical developments in anticipation of the forthcoming US inflation report.
Gains were predominantly propelled by technology and industrial stocks, surpassing declines in consumer cyclicals, telecommunications firms, and automotive manufacturers. Siemens Energy and Rheinmetall exhibited robust performance, increasing by 3.9% and 2.4%, respectively. Chipmaker Infineon Technologies and AI-related Hochtief both experienced an increase of approximately 1.6%.
On the downside, TUI dropped nearly 2% after Europe’s largest travel company missed third-quarter operating profit expectations. Brenntag experienced a decline of 1.6% despite delivering a robust performance in the second quarter, attributed to elevated chemical prices, and has revised its full-year earnings forecast upwards.
