German stocks experienced a downward trend Tuesday morning as investors largely held back from making substantial moves, reflecting ongoing uncertainty regarding the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, and in anticipation of important U.S. inflation data scheduled for later in the week. Germany’s inflation data is under scrutiny as well.

Brent crude futures surged past $90 a barrel as optimism waned regarding a potential agreement between Washington and Tehran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, an essential conduit for global energy supplies. At $89.90 a barrel, crude futures experienced an increase of nearly 2.5%.

The benchmark DAX was down 91.10 points or 0.34% at 26,263.93 recently.

  • Daimler Truck Holding, Bayer, Qiagen, Airbus, and BASF experienced declines ranging from 1% to 1.6%.
  • Mercedes-Benz, Volkswagen, Zalando, Adidas, and Vonovia experienced a decline of nearly 1%.
  • Allianz, Symrise, MTU Aero Engines, Merck, BMW, and Henkel experienced declines, moving to lower levels.
  • Deutsche Telekom, Rheinmetall, Siemens Energy, Infineon Technologies, and RWE experienced increases ranging from 0.5% to 0.8%.
