TODAY’S FACTORS AND EVENTS
The annual inflation rate in Germany slowed for the first time in five months to 7.6% in June of 2022, and easing from 7.9% in the previous month, which was the highest reading since German reunification, as government measures introduced from June 1st to dampen high fuel prices, including tax cuts on gasoline and diesel started to take effect. The CPI, harmonized to compare with other European countries, was up 8.2 percent on the year and edged down 0.1 percent month-on-month, the first monthly decline since November 2020.
