TODAY’S FACTORS AND EVENTS
The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate in Germany edged down further to 5.2 percent in December 2021, from 5.3 percent in the previous month and well below the 6.1 percent touched in the same month of 2020. The number of unemployed decreased by 23 thousand to 2.405 million, bringing the total jobless level to the lowest since March 2020. The highest rates were reported in Bremen (10.2 percent) and Berlin (9.1 percent) and the lowest rates in Bayern (3.1 percent) and Baden-Württem-berg (3.5 percent).
