Wholesale prices in Germany fell 1.9 percent year-on-year in October of 2020, following a 1.8 percent drop in September, marking the 9th consecutive decline. Biggest downward pressure came from cost of fuels and related (-17.6 percent vs -17 percent), namely oil (-17.8 percent); agricultural raw materials and live animals (-3.7 percent vs -1.7 percent), namely live animals (-22.2 percent); and metals (-1.5 percent vs -2.6 percent), namely iron ore and steel (-3.9 percent). In contrast, prices increased for wholesale of grain, raw tobacco, seeds and animal feed (5.1 percent vs 3.6 percent) and fruit, vegetables and potatoes (3 percent vs 2.5 percent). On a monthly basis, wholesale prices edged up 0.2 percent.
