Stock futures in Europe pointed to a flat open on Friday as investors digest prospects for the global economic recovery and rising coronavirus infections across the continent. A plunge in US tech shares the day before also weighed on investors’ mood. Europe’s weekly COVID-19 infections are now higher than the continent’s first coronavirus peak in March, the World Health Organization has warned. Last week, infections exceeded 300,000, higher than 264,675 in late March. On the corporate front, Caixabank and state-owned Bankia have approved a merger plan that will create the Spanish largest bank.
