The DAX Futures is trading at 15,446.50 with a loss of -0.35% or -54.90 point. The FTSE 100 Futures is trading at 7,512.80 with +0.32% percent or +24.30 point. The CAC 40 Futures is trading at 7,002.50 upwith +0.34% percent or +24.00 point. The EURO Stoxx 50 Futures trading at 4,162.00 up with +0.36% percent or +15.00 point.
TODAY’S FACTORS AND EVENTS
Import prices in Germany jumped 24% year-on-year in December of 2021, easing slightly from a 24.7% rise in November which was the highest since October 1974. Main upward pressure continued to come from energy prices (135%), namely natural gas (267.5%), crude oil (65.3%) and coal (154.3%). Cost of electricity jumped 408.8%. Excluding energy prices, import costs rose 13%. Other price increases were also seen for capital goods (4.9%), namely notebooks (6.4%), machines (4.7%) and motor vehicles (3.9%); and agricultural goods (24.2%), mainly green coffee (70.4%) and grain (34.9%). Compared to the previous month, import prices edged up 0.1%. Considering full 2021, import prices were 13.5% higher on average, following a 4.3% fall in 2020, with energy accounting for the largest bulk, namely electricity (216.4%) and natural gas (138.7%).
