The CAC 40 Futures is trading at 7,197.5 with +0.41% percent or +29.5 point. The EURO Stoxx 50 Futures trading at 4,274.00 with a loss of -0.33% percent or -14.00 point.
TODAY’S FACTORS AND EVENTS
Germany’s economy grew by 2.7 percent in 2021, partially recovering from a 4.6 percent contraction in 2020, as activity and demand rebounded firmly following sharp declines triggered by the Covid-19 pandemic. Still, GDP remained 2.0 percent below pre-crisis levels, due to several waves of COVID-19 infections and the associated preventive measures, alongside delivery bottlenecks and material shortages. Household consumption stabilized on the low level of 2020 and was still far from its pre-crisis level, while government expenditure grew by 3.4 percent mainly boosted by spending on the free rapid antigen tests, on Covid-19 vaccines and on the operation of testing and vaccination centers. Gross fixed capital formation in machinery and equipment increased 3.2 percent, while investment in construction grew by only 0.5 percent. External demand also contributed positively to the GDP growth, as exports rose 9.4 percent and imports were up at a slower 8.6 percent.
