Germany’s benchmark Bund yield gained towards -0.3%, trying to recover from a near three-month low hit at the end of November, as investors balanced concerns over the spread of the Omicron coronavirus variant with expectations of a quicker tapering by the US Federal Reserve. Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell said on Tuesday the central bank will probably discuss a faster withdrawal of its massive bond-buying program at its next meeting while inflationary pressure is seen lasting into mid-2022. In Europe, money market participants no longer expect an increase in the ECB deposit rate in 2022 even though the Eurozone inflation rate has risen to near all-time high in November.
