TODAY’S FACTORS AND EVENTS
Germany’s current account surplus narrowed to EUR 11.8 billion in August of 2021 from EUR 16.7 billion in the same month last year. It was the smallest current account surplus since May last year, as the goods surplus fell to EUR 11.0 billion from EUR 13.9 billion a year ago, while the services shortfall increased to EUR 4.8 billion from EUR 2.3 billion and the secondary income deficit advanced to EUR 4.8 billion from EUR 3.4 billion. Meantime, the primary income surplus widened to EUR 10.3 billion from EUR 8.4 billion.
