TODAY’S FACTORS AND EVENTS
The IHS Markit Germany Services PMI rose to 62.2 in July 2021, from 57.5 in the previous month and above market expectations of 59.1, a preliminary estimate showed. The latest reading pointed to the strongest pace of expansion in the sector since data were first available in June 1997, due to the easing of virus containment measures and growing demand. New business increased at the second-fastest rate on record, while work-in-hand rose the most for over a decade. In addition, the pace of job creation hit an all-time high. On the price front, input costs and output charges increased at slightly softer rates. Finally, business confidence remained strong.
